ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dr. Harmon is an honor graduate from Morehouse College, receiving the Bachelor of
Science Degree in Biology. He completed his graduate studies at Georgia State
University receiving the Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Biology with a concentration in
Neuroscience. During his graduate studies, he read an article in the local newspaper that
evoked frustration and anger. The article stated that only 40% of minority students
passed the science portion of the Georgia high-school graduation test. This information
suggested that approximately 60% of minority students failed this portion of the exam!
Determined to be part of the solution to help students understand and receive passing
scores on national science tests, he became a volunteer science teacher in a program
designed to help students. As a result of the program, approximately 80% of the students
that participated in the program passed the science portion of the high school graduation
test. In spite of this effort, the passing rate of minority students still lags behind the
passing rate of other ethnic groups. Thus, Dr. Harmon started this company to help
ALL
STUDENTS
and he has written and published the first of a series of books designed to
help students understand and receive passing scores in science! In addition to this
endeavor, Dr. Harmon is a post-doctoral research fellow at Emory University School of
Medicine in the Department of Pharmacology and he teaches science on the collegiate
level to freshmen and sophomores.
